Enshi Qingqianliu: The Value of a Plant’s Place of Origin
Share
The recognition of Enshi Qingqianliu as a National Geographical Indication Product in China has brought renewed attention to Qingqianliu growing in the Wuling Mountains and to the rich botanical resources of Enshi.
Qingqianliu (Cyclocarya paliurus) is closely associated with this region. Enshi’s mountainous terrain, humid climate and diverse natural environment provide favorable conditions for its growth and cultivation. Local communities have long used Qingqianliu leaves to make tea, and local experience in growing, harvesting and processing the plant has helped build a distinctive regional industry.
Geographical indication protection does more than distinguish a product by name. It highlights the connection between origin, raw-material sourcing, production practices and quality management. For the botanical ingredient industry, this offers a path from natural resources toward more standardized production, better traceability and lasting value.
Based in Enshi, Hubei Shengmei Kang Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. continues to explore ways to develop local botanical resources in a standardized manner. We have the production capability for Qingqianliu leaf polyphenols. We believe the value of a botanical extract depends on more than a single specification: it also reflects how raw materials are sourced, how processes are managed, and how quality control and production safety are maintained.
From a leaf to a standardized ingredient, and from a local resource to broader applications, Enshi Qingqianliu represents the ongoing development of regional botanicals through standardization, quality management and industrial production.
Note: National Geographical Indication Product protection identifies products associated with a specific region. Use of the geographical indication mark is subject to applicable regulations.
