Why We Chose Enshi for Our Botanical Extract Factory

When I decided to build a botanical extract factory in 2017, choosing the location was one of the most important decisions I had to make.

I chose Enshi, Hubei.

For a botanical extract manufacturer, the surrounding environment matters. Enshi is known for its mountains, rich plant resources and relatively clean natural environment. The local climate is mild, generally ranging from around -5°C in winter to 25°C in summer, which supports a wide variety of medicinal and botanical plants.

The region is also well known for its selenium-rich environment and traditional botanical resources. For us, being close to this natural resource base helps us stay connected to the raw materials and the agricultural communities behind the ingredients we work with.

But a factory cannot rely on natural resources alone. Accessibility and logistics also matter. Our location is approximately 15 minutes from the highway, making it practical for raw material transportation, production operations and outbound shipments.

Over the years, Enshi has become more than the location of our factory. It has shaped how we think about botanical ingredients: start with the raw material, understand its origin, control the process and build quality step by step.

Today, Hubei Shengmeikang Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. continues to manufacture botanical extracts and natural active ingredients from Enshi while serving customers and partners beyond China.

Choosing Enshi was not simply a decision about where to build a facility. It was a decision about what kind of manufacturer we wanted to become.
